June 14 marked the sixth month anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting – a tragedy that changed forever the history of that town, the county and beyond.

It all began with Carlee Soto, sister of slain first-grade teacher Victoria Soto, asking the hundreds gathered for a moment of silence as the bell tolled 26 times in memory of each life lost.

Politicians, families and friends of the victims spoke at the event, held at Elmond Town Hall in Newtown at 9:30 a.m., the moment six months ago that shots first pierced through Sandy Hook Elementary School.
