Flag Football is played in the spring and is designed to be an introduction to football with an emphasis on passing, catching and learning the basic fundamentals of the game. It is a fast-moving game that helps to improve the conditioning of young athletes.
There are four divisions of play for boys and girls ages 5 to 15 years old playing 7 on 7. The two younger divisions use flags that stop play when an opponent removes a flag from an opponent’s belt. The upper two divisions play one hand touch to stop each play. There is practice time that allows the coaches and assistant coaches to teach skills and fundamentals at all levels. You can join Flag Football at any level if you have not played before. All games are played on Sundays from May to June. Teams practice once a week.
The D.A.Y.O. Flag Football Program was designed to provide Danbury area athletes with a fun and exciting non-tackle football program. This program helps prepare athletes to gain the skills and knowledge necessary for tackle football if they choose to continue to play football. Flag football is perfect for all players, boys and girls of all ages, and abilities of all levels. It is a small version of American football. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. D.A.Y.O. provides the necessary equipment; it is recommended your child wear cleats. Games are played in one hour.
