Danbury celebrates Brazil

On Sunday, September 7, Mayor Mark Boughton, members of the City Council and the Consul General of Brazil in Hartford Ambassador Cezar Amaral, among members of the local Brazilian community, gathered at Danbury City Hall to celebrate 192 years of the independence of Brazil from Portugal at the 15th Annual Brazilian Flag Raising ceremony.

There was special participation by the Pathfinders Club, which presented and raised both the U.S. and the Brazilian flags, Danbury resident Sara Franco, who sang the U.S. national anthem, and Ana Fernandez, of Westchester, NY, who joined the ceremony for the first time interpreting the Brazilian national anthem.
