Get Ready For Taste of Danbury
This post is also available in: Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish
By Renato Ghio
The CityCenter Green will be an epicenter of activity as CityCenter Danbury celebrates the end of another summer season. Taste of Danbury is coming Saturday Sept. 12 and Sunday, Sept. 13. It’s two days filled with food, live music, and family fun. Alicia and I think it’s a great way to wrap up the summer.
On the food side, you’ll find newcomers Babu’s Jerk Joint, Delavinia’s Deli, Paradise Foods and Salsa Fresca Mexican Grill joining favorites like Gallucci’s Catering, Green Island Chicken and Grill, The Ice Cream Guy, Italian Ices of Connecticut, Mima’s Meatballs & More, Nick’s, Odeens BBQ, Romy’s BBQ, Thai Awesome and Two Steps. Taste it all, from churros to eggplant rollatini to pulled pork to sweet treats like fried Oreos.
Food isn’t the only thing going on at Taste of Danbury. You can get your arts and crafts on with Stone Street Tye-Dye and Sand Art, as well as get the kids jumping and giggling in super-sized inflatables. Plus, Ives Street will feature even more family fun with family- and children-related vendors and entertainment. A number of local non-profits and local stores will be on hand as well.
The music of Billy Joel is on tap with headlining band, Mike DelGuidice and Big Shot taking the stage on Saturday at 8pm and on Sunday at 2pm. Also performing this year is The Doug Wahlberg Band, country artist Tim Charron and Phil LoPresti.
Mike DelGuidice and Big Shot perform all of Billy Joel’s greatest hits and even some tunes that only die-hard fans might know. They also play other artists like Paul McCartney, Elton John, The Beatles and Journey. Mike DelGuidice just so happens to be a member of Billy Joel’s band and even Billy Joel himself admits the singer-songwriter sounds just like him. Billy Joel fans also will be excited to know that this tour features members of Billy Joel’s band: guitarist Tommy Byrnes and drummer Chuck Burgi. Also joining them is John Scarpulla, an original cast member of Billy Joel’s Broadway musical Movin’ Out. Other band members are bassist Nick Dimichino, singer Carmine Giglio and pianist Alexa Ray Joel, Billy Joel’s oldest daughter.
This two-day extravaganza is free to the public. For more information, call CityCenter Danbury at 203-792-1711 or visit citycenterdanbury.com.
