“In the Heights” tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. “In the Heights” is the winner of the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations.
Danbury will be featuring its students, in a high school production of the critically acclaimed musical.
“With a large percentage of our school population defining what HOME means across cultures, across countries and across languages, the diversity here is rich. ‘In the Heights’ is our story, our collective story in our Danbury community. We look forward to sharing it with you,” said Michael Burnett, Speech Arts and Acting teacher and Director of DHS Productions.
Show times are May 5 at 7pm and May 6 and 7 at 7:30pm, at the Danbury High School Auditorium at 43 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury, CT
Tickets are $1 for students and $12 for adults, and can be purchased May 2, 3, and 4 from 2-3pm or 5-6:30 pm at Danbury High School. They can also be purchased at the door.
