The new Consul General of Brazil, Ambassador Fernando de Mello Barreto, took up the post at the Consulate General in Hartford on June 4.
The ambassador expressed his satisfaction in being able to develop and improve, over the next few years, the contacts between the Brazilian government and the Brazilian community residing in Connecticut and Rhode Island. He will be equally dedicated to assure that the growing demands of members of those communities looking for services and quality assistance at that consular jurisdiction are served with eagerness and efficiency.
The new Consul General underlined the importance of encouraging exposure of the Brazilian culture locally and supporting the preservation of the community ties with our country, especially through the Portuguese language. In addition, in the commercial and business spectrum, besides the political sector, Ambassador Fernando de Mello Barreto demonstrated interest in helping to strengthen the relationship between Brazil and the United States to build new and successful partnerships that benefit the Brazilian community.
