Have you been to a Danbury Titans pro hockey game yet? If not, you are missing out on some great sports action in downtown. At the January 17 home game against rival the Brewster Bulldogs, the energy from the players and crowd was palpable. Everyone was on the edge of their seat as the Titans pulled out a win during an overtime shootout.
“We love it,” said one young Titans fan. “I think more people should take advantage of local hockey.” His friend added that for $15, he thinks it’s a great deal. “You get great views of the game. It’s high scoring. You can even talk to the players. How could you go wrong with that?”
It’s all about a love of the game, not just for the players, but for the fans too. Among those most passionate about the team is the Danbury Titans Booster Club. These local hockey fans volunteer, donating time and more to support the players with whatever they need, whether game night meals or toothpaste for the next road trip.
The player roster has seen quite a few changes since the opening game, with many players being called up to the next level league. Just last week, Ryan Patsch and Tyler Gjurich were called up to the ECHL. For Gjurich, this is his second call up this season, while this is the first call up of the season for Patsch, who was named Rookie of the Year for the 2013-14 season.
Sitting at third place in the Federal Hockey League standings, the Titans have been on a bit of a winning streak. If that continues, they’ll be able to jump into second place. There are still plenty of chances to see your local pro hockey team in action. The next home games for the Titans are February 4, 6, 13 and 14.
