Free US Citizenship workshop
Dear Editor,
In an effort to promote US citizenship and full civic participation from our culturally diverse community, the International Institute of Connecticut (IIC), the Hispanic United Church of Christ, and the Brazilian Catholic Community Center will co-sponsor a US Citizenship Workshop. It will be held at Rogers Park Middle School in Danbury from 6:00pm-9:00pm on Thursday, December 3, 2009. This event is free of charge and will begin with a one-hour informational/question and answer session addressing general immigration benefits, followed by a presentation on the citizenship process and how to prepare for the naturalization exam and interview. The final hour will be dedicated to oneon one naturalization counseling for eligible immigrants. The event is open to the public and is designed to inform immigrant populations, service providers and community residents specifically about the benefits and application process for U.S. Naturalization, and, in part, about general immigration benefits and issues.
Anyone from your organization's staff is welcome to attend, as well as any of your constituents or clients that may benefit from this event. Following the informational session, eligible applicants for naturalization will have the opportunity to meet with an immigration specialist from the IIC staff to discuss individual requirements and to prepare the naturalization application (Form N-400). All information is confidential.
We hope you will be able to participate in this exciting event, and that you will spread the word to anyone else that might be interested.
