House of Benfica celebrates 8th anniversary

Hundreds of local Benfiquistas gathered at the Portuguese Cultural Center in Danbury

on Saturday, November 14 to celebrate the 8th anniversary of the House of Benfica. Representatives from Houses all over the country, as well as the President of the Houses of Benfica in the United States and Canada, also attended the event. A delicious buffet was served, with a variety of mouth-watering Portuguese dishes and hors d'oeuvres. Of course, live music is always a must, and guests could enjoy all sorts of traditional dances all night long. "We had a great turn out," said Virgilio Martins, President of the House of Benfica in Danbury. "I was extremely thrilled, because each anniversary is a very special day, not only for me but for all the members of the Board of Directors, too."The House of Benfica is a non-profit membership organization, but you don't have to be of Portuguese descent to be a member.
