NEW YORK
Entering the world of Shakespeare
Othello, one of William Shakespeare's greatest plays, portraying a tragedy based on the Italian short story "Un Capitano Moro" (A Moorish Captain) by Cinthio, a disciple of Boccaccio, was performed in its classic language and modern costumes, at the Secret Theatre in Long Island City, NY from November 17 to 22. Brazilian actor Victor Vauban Júnior is Montano, Othello's Venetian predecessor in the government of Cyprus. Vauban Jr. was born in São Luis do Maranhäo, Brazil. While perfecting his acrobatics and trapeze skills at the Escola Nacional de Circo, he had the opportunity to work with big circus companies, such as Grand Bartholo Circus, Grand Circo Norte Americano and the Beto Carrero Show (Brazil's Biggest Theme Park). Vauban also performed in Brazilian soap operas and shows in the Rede Globo, currently the largest TV network in the Latin America and the fourth largest in the world. Vauban entered the Cirque du Monde, a Cirque du Solei social project, where during auditions to perform in theaters in New York, he was invited to work with the Urban Theatrical Players in its latest production O.T.H.E.L.L.O, directed by Christopher Dames. |
