Newtown Savings Bank achieves 100% community involvement

With the introduction of Newtown Savings Bank’s NSBCare program in January 2009, John Trentacosta, President & CEO of Newtown Savings Bank challenged all Bank employees to volunteer in the community, setting a goal of attaining 100% involvement in community service within the next few years.

Recently, during the Bank’s annual employee awards meeting, Mr. Trentacosta announced that this challenging goal had been attained in just one year – with over 200 Bank employees participating in some form of local community service in 2009 – and well over 8,000 hours volunteered.

“I could not be more thrilled to report this terrific news. Newtown Savings Bank employees really stepped up, especially during these difficult times, in helping our community’s elderly, its youth and its hungry – to name just a few.”

In addition to volunteer hours, Newtown Savings Bank and its employees contributed over $250,000 financially to community programs in 2009 and collected over 3,100 pounds of food for local United Way food drives.

Newtown Savings Bank is a mutual community bank headquartered in Newtown, CT with over $900 million in assets. The Bank has 14 branches in Newtown, Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, Monroe, Shelton, Southbury, Trumbull and Woodbury.
