DANBURY
Action packed summer for kids, teens and adults!
The Danbury Library will kickedoff its “Read Around the World” summer reading program on Monday, June 21. The seven-week summer reading program will be conducted for kids, teens and adults, with entertaining and educational programs, great reading selections and fantastic prizes. Kids will declare their individual reading goals for the summer and bring in their reading map each week to receive weekly incentives and enter tickets to win the grand prizes drawn at the end of the summer. Kids who read books about a country or an author from another country will receive a sticker to place on that country on their map. Mayor Boughton has again teamed up with the library and has issued kids in grades 1-8 a challenge to become a member of the Boughton Reading Team. To qualify, students in grades 1-5 must read at least one hour per week, and those in grades 6-8 must read a minimum of two hours per week. Those completing the required number of hours will receive an invitation to attend a special recognition ceremony with the Mayor at City Hall to be recognized for their reading accomplishments. Adults will not be left out of the fun this year, and there are great prizes for them, too. For a complete program listing, stop by the Danbury Library or visit online at danburylibrary.org. All programs are free of charge. For more children’s or teen program details, please call 797-4528, or for adult information call 797-4527. The Danbury Library is located at 170 Main Street in downtown Danbury |
