Newtown Pride to face New York Cosmos at charity soccer event

On June 18, the rebooted New York Cosmos will take to the pitch in their first competitive match against the Newtown Pride in a doubleheader that will also feature the New England Revolution and the Real Boston Rams. All proceeds from the match will go to the Newtown Parent Connection, a non-profit 503(c) charity whose mission is to provide counseling and support services for families in crisis. The Newtown Parent Connection has been deeply involved in supporting the families victimized by the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

The games will be played at the New Britain Veterans Memorial Stadium. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 at The evening will kick off at 6 p.m. with the Revs-Rams match, followed by the Cosmos-Pride match at 7:30 p.m. Stadium gates will open at 5 p.m. There will be an autograph session with the players as well as a silent auction.

The event is geared towards developing fan relationships with the Newtown Pride and regional soccer teams in addition to providing an opportunity for charitable giving to the Parent Connection.
