I often have patients come into my office for abdominal rejuvenation. Many are women who have finished having children and are interested in either a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) or abdominal liposuction. What are the indications for both surgeries, and when are they performed together?
Who is a liposuction candidate?
When someone has excess abdominal fat, but no extra sagging or loose skin, liposuction is needed. Liposuction only removes fat and does not change the overlying skin. The ideal patient is relatively young with skin that has good elasticity without any stretch marks. Liposuction scars are very small and are almost invisible.
