Families Network to Host 28th Annual Dr. Robert C. & Nancy Joy Luncheon
Families Network of Western Connecticut will host the 28th Annual Dr. Robert C. & Nancy Joy Luncheon on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the Amber Room Colonnade from 11:30 am to 2 pm. The event will honor outstanding community supporters and highlight the vital role of fathers in children’s lives and in the systems that serve them.
For 28 years, this luncheon has celebrated partnerships across Greater Danbury that help ensure children get a safe and healthy start. Families Network works alongside these partners to support parents and prevent child abuse and neglect. The event is named in honor of Dr. Robert C. Joy and his wife Nancy, founders and lifelong advocates for the well-being of children in the Danbury area.
Held in April, the luncheon also recognizes National Child Abuse Prevention Month, The Week of the Young Child, and National Volunteer Week—highlighting the importance of community collaboration in strengthening families.
This year’s featured speaker is Anthony Gay, Director of Fatherhood Services for the Connecticut Department of Children and Families. A nationally recognized leader with more than 25 years of experience, he leads statewide efforts to include fathers in child welfare and family-serving systems and advocates for policies that strengthen their role.
Debbie MacCarry will receive the 2026 Dr. Alvin Goldman Community Service Award. A longtime Danbury resident, Debbie has dedicated her career to advocating for children. She volunteered with Families Network beginning in 2024, contributing significantly to program documentation and accreditation, and now serves as Chair of the Board of Directors.
Jyo Buyyala will receive the Jeannie C. Beck Above & Beyond Award. Over the past year, she has played a key role in grant research and writing, helping to expand funding opportunities. She holds a master’s degree in Public Policy and Management and has applied her expertise to support Families Network’s mission.
Su Murdock and Laundry Love of Greater Danbury will be honored with the Distinguished Community Partner Award. Through the distribution of laundry cards, they support low- and no-income families, helping ensure children and families have access to clean clothing with dignity.
The luncheon’s Platinum Sponsors are Peggy and John Day and Giglio Landscaping. The Gold Sponsor is Union Savings Bank. Individual tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available at www.fnwc.org or by calling Stacey DeVita at 203-791-8773.
Families Network of Western Connecticut has served Greater Danbury since 2003, providing home visiting programs, parenting support, and fatherhood initiatives at no cost to families. Its mission is to ensure all children have the opportunity for a safe and healthy start.
