Holiday Fun and Community Spirit Shine at Elmwood Hall This December
December brings a holiday edition of our ever-popular ‘Senior Show & Tell’ series. “Show & Tell” was always fun as a kid – it will be fun as an adult too!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Nowhere is that more evident than at the Elmwood Hall Danbury Senior Center. Come shake off the hustle and bustle of the holiday season with some of our special programs.
December brings a holiday edition of our ever-popular ‘Senior Show & Tell’ series. “Show & Tell” was always fun as a kid – it will be fun as an adult too! Bring in something important to you, to show and tell us a story about it! This time around, we would love for you to bring holiday-related items and stories. Possibilities include decorations from your childhood holidays, the best holiday present you ever got, or maybe a recipe from a memorable holiday to share! Come with an object to tell a story, or just come and listen. Either way, this will be a fascinating afternoon.
We have a celebrity in our midst! Our Program Coordinator, Matt Austin, will be appearing with Actress Keke Palmer, Tonight Show Host Jimmy Fallon, and Broadway’s Jonathan Groff on the ‘Password’ Holiday Special on NBC on Dec. 8th at 10 pm and Dec. 18th at 8 pm. The classic game show is back on NBC! Don’t worry if you can’t catch it one of those times on your TV. We will be screening his episode here at the Danbury Senior Center on Thursday, December 10th, at 1pm.
The holiday festivities continue on Friday, December 12th. Our regular Monthly Trivia will become Holiday Trivia! Join us for fun and prizes. Sponsored by Highbridge Healthcare. On Monday, December 22nd, we will be holding our first Paint & Sip (and sing!). Join us for non-alcoholic holiday beverages while you paint your own holiday nutcracker. If painting and sipping isn’t your thing, we’ll also have holiday karaoke going on so you can sing your heart out!
In non-holiday programming news, the Ridgefield Visiting Nurses Association will be on hand on Wednesday, December 17th, for ‘Coffee & Conversations: Growing Older, You’re Way’. Getting older often brings up new questions—but you don’t have to navigate them alone. Join us for a relaxed, judgment-free chat over coffee with a seasoned geriatric care manager and social worker who understands the real-life challenges of aging. Whether you’re curious about resources, planning ahead, or want to talk things through, this is your space to ask questions, gain support, and feel genuinely heard.
We will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Other than that all our regular programming continues in December.
